What does the suffix “R” stand for following the article description of the PowerTOP Xtra series?

Our 5-pin, 16A PowerTOP Xtra plugs and sockets are available as a PowerTOP Xtra R variant. The R stands for robust, high-heat resistant contact carriers and nickel-plated plug and connector contacts. The plug and socket device is therefore especially protected against high humidity and aggressive substances.

What are the initial symmetrical short-circuit current (IK) values of products from MENNEKES?

Our products have various IK values. Your contact at MENNEKES will be happy to tell you the IK value for the specific part number. 

Are receptacle combinations from MENNEKES tested and approved by the VDE institute (or equivalent body)?

Receptacle combinations from MENNEKES can be subject to various product standards. Usually, we manufacture product series in accordance with IEC 61439, IEC 60309 and VDE 0620.

What do you need 1h plugs and sockets for?

Contrary to other clock positions, this one is not standardized and therefore available for special plug and socket applications. More information can be found here

A maximum conductor cross-section of 6mm² is listed for type 354 in the catalog. Could you also connect a 10mm² cross-section?

Yes, type 354 can also be connected with a conductor cross-section of 10 mm² if a rigid cable is used. Whenever a flexible cable is used, a conductor cross-section of a maximum of 6 mm² can be connected.

What is the difference between articles 1128A and 1128P?

Articles 1128A and 1128P (Panel mounted socket with screw contact) are almost identical products. However, article 1128P has a pilot contact that can be used for additional signalling/controlling.

Do you offer products for 125A or higher?

Of course - we offer products for 160- 600 amps, usually made from aluminum or plastic. Our high-current plugs and sockets and high-current sockets can be found here. Detailed information can also be found on pages 178 to 192 of our Industrial plugs and sockets catalog.

What is the extra pin used for in 63-amp and 125-amp plugs?

The extra pin is called a pilot pin and it can be used to control additional signals (e.g. clearance of plug and socket/signal activation).

Do I need a 9-mm or 13-mm compressed air connection?

Dependent on the customer's flow rate specification, compressed air hoses with a nominal diameter of 9 mm or 13 mm are available. In this regard, quick-connect compressed air couplings with matching fittings are offered for the suspended power distributors.
