What can I do against condensation in the receptacle combination?

We recommend using special membrane screw connections. An installed membrane prevents ingress of external humidity. Due to the simultaneous aeration of the enclosure there is continuous equalization of ambient air and the enclosure interior air. Condensation can thus be continuously dissipated. The membrane cable gland allows introduction of connection lines without restricting aeration.

What all is tested with ELABO unit testing of multi-outlet distribution units?

All tests are performed that are required in accordance with the electrical standard such as trip testing or protective conductor testing. A test report of the receptacle combination can be requested from your contact at MENNEKES.

What does AMELAN mean?

The engineering grade thermoplastic PBT (formerly AMELAN) is a special plastic that we offer for the enclosures and inserts of some plugs and sockets. This plastic provides protection against chemicals and other aggressive substances such as oils, fuels, greases and alkalis. Our products with this special plastic can be used, for example, in the food and chemical industries or in refineries.

What is the difference between AMELAN and PC?

The enclosures and inserts of our popular plugs and sockets are made of the thermoplastic AMAPLAST (PC/PA), a robust engineering grade plastic which, among other qualities, offers good electrical insulation as well as being unbreakable and resistant to heat, seawater, oil and gasoline. The engineering grade thermoplastic PBT (formerly AMELAN), on the other hand, is a special plastic that we offer for the enclosures and inserts of some plugs and sockets. This plastic provides protection against chemicals and other aggressive substances such as oils, fuels, greases and alkalis. Our products with this special plastic can be used, for example, in the food and chemical industries or in refineries.

Why are CEE wall-mounted receptacles and receptacle combinations available in different colors?

We offer wall-mounted receptacles and receptacle combinations made of two different enclosure materials that have different properties. There is an enclosure made of high-quality plastic and another one made of special plastic, which provides protection especially against chemicals and other aggressive substances. The special plastic has a darker color to able to distinguish the plastics visually, which is the reason for the different colors.

Why is the position of the earth contact relevant for industrial plugs and sockets?

The position of the protective conductor ensures that incorrect insertion is prevented in the case of various voltages and frequencies in accordance with the electrical standard.
