Customised solutions for electric vehicles
MENNEKES Stecker GmbH & Co. KG was established at the beginning of 2011. As part of the MENNEKES Group, the Kirchhundem-based company develops and manufactures customised charging inlets and charging cables. This is for the automotive manufacturers and their suppliers, in accordance with national and international specifications in the future market of electromobility. The organisation and processes are geared to the needs of the automotive industry and meet the requirements of a quality management system according to the new IATF 16949.
Development and production
All logistical processes in the automotive industry are mapped using the standard software SAP R3. A modern CAQ system which is the basis for transparency and reliability.
The core competencies of all companies in the MENNEKES Group are used to develop and manufacture the charging cables and charging inlets. Our own special machine construction, the toolmaking of Midena Werkzeugbau GmbH and the plastics and metal processing of MENNEKES Elektrotechnik GmbH & Co. KG allow the rapid, and professional implementation of customer-specific requirements.
As the developer of the draft standard type 2 for charging couplers for electromobility, MENNEKES has been a partner from the outset. Based on extensive project experience, the company has developed and implemented innovative solutions for series production.
MENNEKES takes an integrated view of the charging of electric vehicles and serves the entire chain from the vehicle, to the supply network connection. The MENNEKES Group's range extends from individual components such as charging plugs, couplings and sockets, using pre-assembled charging cables, to intelligent charging stations and billing services, for use in private or public areas.
The products
The MODE 2 type charging cables are manufactured in accordance with IEC 62752. They can be connected to the normal household infrastructure and generate charging power of up to 3.7 kW. The product is extremely user-friendly, as no further settings are required, and meets protection classes IP 44 (plug connectors) and IP 67 or 69k (charging modules) against dust and water. The robust housing guarantees drive-over safety and, among other features, the charging module allows multi-stage temperature management. MENNEKES offers customised as well as country-specific solutions - e.g. in relation to colour, branding, cable management and the infrastructure of the respective country. Extensive national approvals are available.
The MODE 3 type charging cables are manufactured in accordance with IEC 62196/61851. They can be connected to the standard charging infrastructure in public spaces and generate charging power of up to 22 kW. Thanks to its high-quality construction, the product guarantees functional and drive-over safety and meets protection class IP 44 (couplings) against dust and water. MENNEKES offers customised, interface-specific solutions. Extensive national approvals are available.
The AC vehicle charging inlets are mainly produced for PHEV vehicles. They can be used nationwide and are fully compatible with the existing charging infrastructure. These inlets allow the vehicle to be gently charged while stationary, generate charging power of up to 22 kW and meet protection class IP 45 during charging. MENNEKES offers specific solutions for available installation spaces.
The CCS Type 2 vehicle charging inlets are manufactured in accordance with IATF 16949: 2016 and enable HPC charging of up to 200 kW. This is ideal for fast charging of electric vehicles, e.g. when on the road. The product can be supplied with or without a cable set and meets protection class IP 54 against dust and water. Silver-plated contact pins guarantee a high number of connector mating cycles and low heat generation.
