Cable glands
The cable gland is a cable entry point that can be attached or screwed into the enclosure of wall mounted receptacles or receptacle combinations. Cable glands seal cords and leads, and keep them tightly secured when they pass through an opening in the enclosure. This way the cable gland protects the device against ingression of dust and water.
The current standard DIN EN/IEC 60423 specifies cable glands to have a screw thread. There are cable glands for eight different cable types (from M 12 to M 63). Our chart explains the typical areas for sealing and clamping on each type of cable gland. Keep in mind: The diameter and openings of cables can vary between different manufacturers as they are not standardised.
